Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers will not be in the lineup Thursday due to a left hamstring strain. The move is precautionary, as Langeliers has been dealing with the issue for the past few days.
Langeliers is considered day-to-day and could be back in the lineup as early as Friday. In the meantime, Aramis Garcia will start behind the plate for the Athletics.
Langeliers is hitting .250 with three home runs and 12 RBIs this season. He has been one of the Athletics' most consistent hitters and his absence will be a blow to the team's offense.
The Athletics are currently in last place in the AL West with a record of 22-41. They will face the Houston Astros on Thursday night at Minute Maid Park.
